Traces of 6,000 Year-Old Wine Discovered in a Sicilian Cave - Researchers have recently uncovered evidence of what might well be Italy’s - and perhaps the world’s - oldest wine-making facility in a cave in southern Sicily. Various terracotta amphorae found intact in the cave contained residue which, when subjected to chemical tests, indicated the pottery was used for winemaking and/or wine storage.
